I have had Greek food that I loved and some that I was not so crazy about. It’s all a matter of personal pallet when it comes to cuisine. Some of the dishes I loved in Greece were the Gyro( Pronounced like the money Euro). Gyro shops are on every corner in Crete. I wont pretend to know the logistics of how they are made but they a so delicious. Often made with pork, beef or chicken with a special sauce , French fries and veggies. I ate at least one Gyro a day while in Crete.
Another traditional offering of a tasty meal in Greece is the Greek BBQ. Be careful it does not come with your traditional BBQ sauce choices, BBQ is used in the sense of how the meat is cooked on a grill.
At the end of Every meal in Greek Restaurants its tradition to offer the patrons a shot of Ouzo. Ouzo is a traditional Greek dink. It is impolite to refuse and the server usually participate in drinking with you. The Ouzo is usually brought out with some kind of fruit as well. Drink up!
